Welcome!

The Raleigh Tennis Association (RTA) is a non-profit organization designed to promote tennis activities in the Raleigh area.

The RTA organizes USTA League play for juniors, adults and seniors. There is competitive tennis available for all ages and abilities. In addition, we offer information for beginning developmental programs of various kinds to both juniors and adults.

We hope you find our website useful in your quest for information about Raleigh area tennis.  Thank you for your support as we work towards growing the game in our community.  We welcome any feedback or questions you may have.

News for Spring 2013

1. New divisions

18 & over - players of all ages over 18 can play in this division (2singles and 3 doubles)

40 & over - all players over 40 can play in this division (2 singles and 3 doubles)

55 & over - all players over 55 can play in this division (3 doubles)

65 & over - all players over 65 can play in this division (3 doubles)

E.g. a 65 year player can play in all of the divisions

 

2. Ratings 

Ratings are now available. Go to: www.nctennis.com and click on "find your rating." If you want to appeal your rating up or down, you should click on the appeal button. If you are denied your appeal, your only other option is a medical appeal. Ratings are based on both scores and whom you played.

 

3. Team requirements 

Teams are allowed 15 players on their rosters. 3.0-4.0 teams will need at least six players on the level of the team. 2.5, 4.5 and 5.0+ teams will need four players on the level of the team

Teams will need enough courts to allow an equal number of home and away matches.

City teams will be charged $30 for a five court match.City teams will have the option of using the Raleigh Racquet club hard courts, Ravenscroft courts or St. Mary's courts for $100 per match.

 

4. To register your team:

  1. Go To www.nctennis.com
  2. Click on Tennislink
  3. Log in with your USTA number and click on “online team creation.”
  4. Select Section: USTA Southern
  5. Select Area/District: Northern Carolina
  6. Select League: Capital League
  7. Select Flight: (i.e. 18 & over 4.0 Women)
  8. Choose any subflight, a,b,c, or d. This will be changed later depending on which group you are in.
  9. Enter Team Name: The letter I plus captain's first initial and then last name.
  10. Associate with your facility. If it isn’t listed, click on “other facility” and type in your club name.
  11. Click Submit, Team Number, Submit WRITE DOWN YOUR TEAM NUMBER

****Print a copy of your confirmation with your team number to give to players.  Your players must have the 10 digit team number to register.

Isner to Host Charity Event in December at Chapel Hill

Saturday, December 8, 2012 

America’s No. 1 Tennis Player, John Isner, announced today that Ebix, a leading international supplier of software and e-commerce solutions to the insurance industry, will be the title sponsor of his annual charity event. The event, which will be called the “Ebix Charity Challenge hosted by John Isner,” will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Chapel Hill, N.C. and will benefit the University of North Carolina (UNC) Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center for the third consecutive year.

Isner will be joined by celebrity emcee Wayne Bryan, father and former coach of the World No. 1 Doubles Team Mike and Bob Bryan, Christina McHale, a rising American star on the WTA Tour, players from the UNC men’s and women’s tennis teams, and other players to be announced at a later date.

New League Age Divisions on Tap for 2013

What exactly is changing?

In NC, USTA age divisions for league play have been Adult (18 & over), Senior (50 & over) Super Senior (60 & over) Super Senior 70s (70 & over).The new structure, which will begin in NC in 2013, will have age divisions of 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over and 65 & over.

Atlantic Tire & Service Triangle Tennis Challenge

Thursday, Nov. 15 - Monday, Nov. 19
Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium
J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex

Touring professionals, top-tier collegiate players from all over the world, and the best up-and-coming national juniors will converge on Raleigh for one week to compete in the Atlantic Tire & Service Triangle Tennis Challenge to compete for $45,000 in prize money in singles and doubles. Players on this level are competing weekly on the Challenger Series, ATP, and Grand Slam events - the Australian open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.

2013 RTA Spring Swing - Rain Date in Effect! Sunday April 21, 2013 11:00 am-2:00pm

Due to the weather, the 2013 RTA Spring Swing will host the event on the posted rain date of Sunday, April 21, 2013. 11:00am-2:00pm Details below:

10:30 am Player Check in

11:00 am: Welcome

11:30-1:30pm: Round Robin Play- Lunch served buffet style Cash bar opens at 12:00

1:45pm: Exhibition matches, Silent Auction closes

2:00pm: 50/50 Tennis Ball Raffle Winner announced, A Great Big Thank you to all!!!

Thank you in advance for all of your support for this event. We have Adaptive Athletes who are traveling from across the state of North Carolina, excited to be a part of this Round Robin.  They are happy to meet everyone and proud to be a part of such a fun event. In addition,  Local Tennis teams have worked so beautifully on their basket donations for the Silent Auction, Local business have given so much of their time, donated great goodie bag items, our Special Events Committee has created such a lovely event!

Lake Lynn through the city of Raleigh now has a Ball machine available to rent Tue-Thurs 8am-4:00pm cost starts $12 to $160
