RTA Board Positions Open

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

Looking to give back to the community and get more involved in tennis? The RTA Board might be the opportunity for you! We're now accepting applications for two Board of Director positions. The ideal candidate is active in tennis either as a player, parent, or volunteer. They're passionate about sharing the sport with others and want to see it grow in the Raleigh area.

More about the RTA Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of four officers (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) and six at-large Directors. Each Director is elected to the BoD by a majority vote of the current Directors and serves a 2-year term. Five Director terms expire each odd and even year.

Nominees are recommended by the Nominating Committee to the BoD for consideration and voting at the last meeting of the current year. Nominees that are approved will start their term at the first BoD meeting of the following year. The RTA BoD meets in-person (or via virtual meeting) every other month, and more often if special meetings are needed. In between the meetings, business may be communicated and conducted via email correspondence.

In addition to the BoD meetings, Directors are expected to serve on and/or Chair at least one RTA committee and volunteer to help with events and activities. On average, a Director can expect to dedicate 4 – 6 hours of their time per month.

Ideal Director candidates are active in tennis either as a player, parent, or volunteer with other tennis related groups. They are passionate about sharing the sport with others and want to see it grow in the Raleigh area. Having served on another volunteer BoD’s is a plus and having good experience, knowledge, and skills in a variety of areas such as business, marketing, fundraising, finance, law, community organization, and non-profit governance adds tremendous value to the RTA organization. It is key to the RTA that each Director is committed to actively participating in the organization and Raleigh tennis community in order to effectively continue our mission.

Applications are due November 1.
